She is the House of Representative member that represents Tywls of Astoria. Your letter will include an issue that affects the environment of Astoria. You will include information from your research on theYour letter will include the following:
1. A paragraph that says why you are writing and who you are. List your "credentials." (If you want a response, you must include your name and address. Please use the school address.) 2. Explain the issue you want her to address. You need to provide specific details. Please use information from your community inventory you completed in class last week and links about environment issues that you can find on Jonathan's website. Be factual not emotional. Provide specific rather than general information about how the topic affects you and others. If a certain bill is involved, cite the correct title or number whenever possible. 3. Close by requesting the action you want taken: a vote for or against a bill, or change in general policy.

Watch the YouTube video on the contest page
Decide if you want to work alone or with a partner/group (you are allowed to)
Complete the entry form (Dante will have them). You can put the school address and phone number as your own and Jackie or Marlena as the teacher leader with the school phone number
Create one of the following:
A poem or spoken word piece up to 3 pages, or 3 minutes long
A poster, cartoon, painting, collage, drawing, etc., by hand

Task 3: Virtual DC
Use the following links to explore the area of Washington DC.
The National Mall includes 7 famous monuments. Visit the links of each and write one thing you find interesting about each monument.
Take this virtual tour of Supreme Court Building. Be sure to read the directions on the first page on how to navigate through the tour. Click on some of the 'hot spots' and explore the building. Be sure to visit the courtroom and the chambers of Justice Ginsburg and Justice Stevens. Write at least five interesting pieces of information that you learn in your notebook.
Visit Mount Vernon and watch the short movie at the top of the page. Then click on the Virtual Mansion Tour and launch the Flash tour.
Next, go to the National Archives and visit some of the online exhibits.
